VULNERABILITY DETAILS

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Esri ArcReader. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.

The specific flaw exists within the parsing of PMF files. Crafted data in a PMF file can trigger an overflow of a heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.

This vulnerability is being disclosed publicly without a patch in accordance with the ZDI 120 day deadline.

11/26/21 – ZDI informed the vendor of the intention to publish the report as 0-day advisory on 11/30/21
