VULNERABILITY DETAILS

This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to bypass authentication on affected installations of D-Link DIR-2055 routers. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the handling of HNAP login requests. The issue results from the lack of proper implementation of the authentication algorithm. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the router.

This vulnerability is being disclosed publicly without a patch in accordance with the ZDI 120 day deadline.
