(Pwn2Own) Microsoft Windows Diagnostics Hub Standard Collector Directory Traversal Privilege Escalation Vulnerability
Vulnerability Details
This vulnerability allows local attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Microsoft Windows Diagnostics Hub Standard Collector. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within DiagnosticsHub.StandardCollector.Service.exe. The issue lies in the failure to properly validate a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code under the context of SYSTEM.
