Apple OS X AppleHDA Buffer Overflow Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

This vulnerability allows local attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Apple OS X. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.

The specific flaw exists within the AppleHDA kernel extension. The issue lies in the failure to validate a user-supplied size prior to copying data into a kernel buffer. A local attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute code within the context of the kernel.
