(Pwn2Own) Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3150 Privilege Defined With Unsafe Actions Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability
Vulnerability Details
This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3150 devices. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the sudo rules. The issue results from allowing privileged execution of a binary that can have unsafe effects. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of root.
