July 30th, 2026

Vulnerability Details

This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3150 devices. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the CharxSystemConfigManager service, which listens on TCP port 5001 by default. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to update configuration. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute code in the context of root.

Additional Details

Fixed in firmware v1.9.1, available by Aug 12, 2026.
