(Pwn2Own) Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3150 Jupicore External Control of Path Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Vulnerability Details

This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3150 devices. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the firmware-update endpoint. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to update firmware. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute code in the context of the charging controller.
