(Pwn2Own) Microsoft Windows ipt.sys Incorrect Permission Assignment Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

Vulnerability Details

This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Microsoft Windows. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the ipt.sys driver. The issue results from incorrect permissions on a registry key. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of SYSTEM.
