Linux Kernel IPv6 AH Routing Header Integer Underflow Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

October 29th, 2026

Vulnerability Details

This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Linux Kernel. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the parsing of ipv6_rt_hdr headers. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer underflow before allocating a buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the kernel.
