Oracle Java jnlp Protocol Directory Traversal Arbitrary File Deletion Vulnerability

Vulnerability Details

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files on vulnerable installations of Oracle Java. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.

The specific flaw exists within the handling of URIs with the jnlp: protocol. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to delete files in the context of the current user.
