Trend Micro ServerProtect ioctlMod Heap-based Buffer Overflow Privilege Escalation Vulnerability
Vulnerability Details
This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Trend Micro ServerProtect. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute high-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the ioctlMod function. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a heap-based buffer.
