Cisco UCS Director CopyFileRunnable run Symlink Following Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Vulnerability Details

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Cisco UCS Director. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the processing of tar files by the LargeFileUploadServlet endpoint. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied UNIX symbolic link prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the tomcat service.
