Microsoft Windows CD-ROM Driver Uninitialized Pointer Privilege Escalation Vulnerability
Vulnerability Details
This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on vulnerable installations of Microsoft Windows. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the CD-ROM driver. Crafted data sent to IOCTL 0x0056c008 can trigger access to a pointer prior to initialization. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges to the level of SYSTEM.
