Vulnerability Details
This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Synology DiskStation DS1823xs+ devices. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the handling of the provided username during login. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to construct environment variables. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the root.
