(Pwn2Own) QNAP QHora-322 tar Command Injection Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Vulnerability Details
This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of QNAP QHora-322 routers. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the handling of parameters provided to the tar executable. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to execute a system call. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute code in the context of root.
