(Pwn2Own) QNAP TS-453E malware_remover Code Injection Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Vulnerability Details
This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of QNAP TS-453E devices. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the malware_remover.cgi endpoint. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to execute Python code. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root.
